The Kiwi Fruit or Chinese gooseberry was introduced to the West from East Asia and Japan, and is now an important crop in New Zealand, where the name Kiwi Fruit originated. A woody climber with stunning large paddle shaped leaves with red hairy stems, it has creamy male and female flowers. Later, oblong furry brown fruits are produced, with thin skin, bright green flesh, and numerous black seeds. Kiwi Fruit has a high Vitamin C content, and is lovely eaten raw or in a fruit salad.
